A Little About The Albatross

When designing the Albatross, our main goal was to create a keyboard that combines both character and simplicity. We specifically aimed for a TKL layout, added weight to enhance its overall quality, incorporated unique design elements on the sides to give it personality, and most importantly prioritized achieving a satisfying sound and tactile experience.

The Name

As an emblem of nature's marvel, meticulously curated for the keyboard enthusiast, our design reflects the grandeur and elegance found in nature. The back side (USB Side) mirrors the sweeping wingspan of the magnificent Albatross as it soars with grace, effortlessly covering vast distances. This winged design extends all the way to the two sides of the keyboard. The Albatross TKL offers users an expansive and seamless typing experience. With its added weight, it firmly grounds itself on your desk, promising stability, and quality just as the Albatross exudes control during its lengthy flights. Designed for those who appreciate the finer details, the Albatross TKL doesn't just sit on your desk; it claims its space.

Split-Plate Design and Gasket Tabs

In collaboration with Gondolindrim, a seasoned professional in Mechanical Keyboards, we created a split-plate design that isolates the Alphas section and the Nav section. This design ensures a consistent and uniform sound profile for both sections. Additionally, we have implemented isolation for the spacebar, enabling the natural sound to be audible without interference from the gaskets.

The PCB's were also designed by Gondolindrim. With the Albatross we will be offering both a Solder version as well as a Hotswap. As standard with keyboards, the solder version will be able to support a wider range of layouts compared to the Hotswap. Please see the layout options below.

Our goal is to offer a premium keyboard with character. We also wanted to ensure this keyboard would be launched at a fair price point. Therefore, we are aiming for an approximate retail price of $350 for the base kit which includes – an anodized aluminum keyboard case with a stainless steel weight, solderable PCB, an aluminum plate, gaskets and the various foam options.
